KSNT: Topeka elementary schools use new program to provide weekend meals to student

The principal at Lowman Hill Elementary School said they found out students have left schools on Friday not knowing if they would get a meal until Monday at school.

Previously, they were only able to help 20 students. But now with the help of Project Topeka, they are able to help nearly 600 students.

Hayden High School Swim Helps Sorts More Than 5,000 Pounds

Hayden StudentsThanks to the Hayden High School Swim Team for helping sort the more than 5,000 pounds of food donated recently to Project Topeka.The food will be distributed to seven local food banks supported by Project Topeka. The donated food came from City of Topeka Municipal Court, TARC's Winter Wonderland, Shawnee County Parks + Recreation golf courses, Home Depot, Bonkers and Myers & Stauffer.
